The Roman staging post at the crossroads of the Via Traiana and the Via Herculia, in the countryside of Ariano Irpino.

Aequum Tuticum was an important stopping point along the Roman roads that crossed Irpinia. Here the Via Traiana, leading towards Apulia, met the Via Herculia.Excavations at Sant'Eleuterio have uncovered the remains of buildings, baths and roads. It is a place to understand how important this area was for links between the Tyrrhenian and the Adriatic.
