Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo in Ginestra degli Schiavoni

The Church of Santi Pietro e Paolo is the mother church of Ginestra degli Schiavoni and was inaugurated in 1986. It stands on the site of an older church, Santa Maria dell'Assunzione, already documented around 1500. We like its modern architecture, with a circular plan and a distinctive umbrella-shaped roof that makes it recognisable on the village skyline.Inside, a painting of St Anthony believed to be miraculous is venerated: it is a copy, because the original was destroyed in a fire in 1924. We recommend continuing to the Chapel of Sant'Antonio, outside the walls, which arose near the drove roads used by transhumant flocks: its bell of 1690 is the oldest historic object in the village.
