Palace · Pietramelara (CE)

Palazzo Sant'Agostino

  • Visit: about 50 min

In Pietramelara, the former convent of Sant'Agostino, dating from the 13th century and now the town hall, with a spacious cloister.

In the centre of Pietramelara, next to the Church of Sant'Agostino, stands the old Augustinian convent, whose origins date back to the 13th century. After centuries of religious life, the building changed function and today houses the town hall, becoming the administrative heart of the town.We like the large cloister, which can also be reached from the church's rectory and keeps the secluded atmosphere of the original complex. The whole complex was restored after earthquake damage. We suggest including it in a walk through the medieval village of Pietramelara, which grew around a Lombard-era tower and is full of evocative views.
