Riardo's 16th-century mother church, once called Ave Gratia Plena, with an 18th-century statue of the Madonna della Stella.

The Church of Santa Maria a Silice is the mother church of Riardo and dates from the 16th century. It was originally dedicated to the Annunciation and known as Ave Gratia Plena; for centuries the apse housed a painting of the Santissima Annunziata, later moved and removed in 1929.We like the statue of the Madonna della Stella, a Neapolitan-school work that arrived in the town around 1750 and is deeply venerated by the community. We suggest also looking for the wooden statue of Sant'Antonio Abate, donated by Duchess Elena Aldobrandini during the plague of 1656.
