In Aversa Cathedral, the diocesan museum holds Neapolitan silverware, panels by Angiolillo Arcuccio and a rare 11th-century St George.

Founded in 1995 inside Aversa Cathedral, the diocesan museum preserves the artistic and liturgical heritage of the cathedral. The route winds through the ambulatory, with architectural fragments, sculptures and liturgical objects, and continues in the Loreto chapel and the Old Treasury. We like the feeling of visiting the museum inside the very church that gave rise to it.We recommend looking for the rare 11th-century marble slab of St George and the Dragon, one of the few pre-Romanesque sculptures in southern Italy, the 15th-century panels by Angiolillo Arcuccio, such as the Martyrdom of St Sebastian, and the Madonna with the Banner signed by Solimena. The sacred silverware from 17th- and 18th-century Neapolitan workshops is also splendid.
