The old town of Carinaro grew up around the old mother church of Sant'Eufemia and the nearby Palazzo Mormile. The church is dedicated to the village's patron saint, to whom one of the theories about the origin of the name Carinaro is even linked.We recommend visiting in September, when the patronal feast culminates on the 16th with rites, processions and shows. Above all we like the traditional gara delle mazze, an auction in which the highest bidder wins the honour of carrying the saint's statue on their shoulders between the square and the church.
