Small 19th-century chapel in the Barba hamlet of Ceppaloni, with a French statue of the Immaculate Conception.

In the Barba hamlet of Ceppaloni stands the Church of the Immacolata Concezione, a small rectangular chapel built around 1861. It was erected on land belonging to the Polcari family, and the idea probably came from a Jesuit of the family, deeply devoted to the Immaculate Conception, whose dogma had been proclaimed by Pius IX a few years earlier. We like this testimony of 19th-century family devotion, still open for worship. Inside is a small statue of the Immaculate Conception, a 19th-century French work. We recommend including it in a tour of Ceppaloni's hamlets, together with the archpriest's Church of San Nicola, on which the chapel depends.
