Chianche's castle, perhaps of Norman origin, dominating the small village and held by many feudal families until 1806.

The castle of Chianche stands on a rise overlooking the village and may date from the Norman period; the first documentary mentions are from the early 14th century. We are struck by the long line of feudal lords who succeeded one another: from the de Planca to the Sanseverino, from the Caracciolo to the de Guevara, down to the Zunica, who held it from 1608 to 1778.In 1778 the fief passed to the Perelli marquises, who kept it until the abolition of feudalism in 1806; the last recorded lord of the castle is the Duke of San Donato. We suggest reaching the village and seeing how the castle still shapes its skyline, telling of centuries of changing hands.
