On the highest point of San Leucio del Sannio, the church that gave the village its name, mentioned as early as 1158 and rebuilt after 1688.

The Church of San Leucio Vescovo stands on the highest point of the village and the settlement grew up around it, with houses clustered close by and the newer hamlets spreading down the slopes. It is first mentioned in a document of 1158 and it gave its name to the village, once known as San Leucio de Collina.Like many buildings in the area, it was rebuilt after the 1688 earthquake. We like its panoramic position, which tells the story of the village well. We recommend walking up here at leisure through the streets of the centre, to enjoy the view over the hills of the Sannio.
