Ceppaloni's medieval archpriest's church, with Gothic niches, an inlaid marble altar and a stepped 18th-century bell tower.

In the old town of Ceppaloni stands the Church of San Nicola Vescovo, an archpriest's parish founded between the 12th and 13th centuries. It was restored in 1502 by Archbishop Alessandro della Marra and renovated in the 17th and 18th centuries at the behest of Cardinal Orsini. Closed for a long time after the earthquakes of 1934 and 1962, it reopened in 1999.The pedimented façade features a stone portal with the Della Marra coat of arms and a Carrara marble bas-relief of the Madonna delle Grazie. The interior, with a nave and two aisles, preserves 13th–14th-century Gothic niches, the high altar in inlaid marble and an 18th-century wooden statue of the saint. We also like the mid-18th-century bell tower, built in steps with a structure designed to withstand earthquakes.
