The church of Baiano's patron saint, founded as a chapel in the 16th century, where the famous Christmas Maio is raised on the square.

The church of Santo Stefano began in the early 16th century as a cemetery chapel and is recorded with certainty in 1586. Enlarged in the 18th century, it became the place dedicated to Baiano's patron saint and holds a wooden statue of the saint. Damaged by the earthquakes of 1980 and 1981, it has been restored, and the lost ceiling frescoes have been replaced. We suggest coming at Christmas for the Maio festival: a great tree cut in the Arciano wood is carried in front of the church to be blessed and then raised on the square, amid shots from old carbines and a festive crowd. The day ends with the "fucarone", a great bonfire that gives us one of the most evocative winter rituals in Irpinia.
