In the town of Sant'Agata de' Goti, the Church of the Carmine gives its name to the square that opens in front of it, enlarged in the 19th century during urban redevelopment. It stands opposite the 18th-century Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, in one of the most intimate corners of the old town.Today the building houses a section of the Diocesan Museum and preserves memories linked to St Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori, bishop of the town and a much-loved figure, celebrated in August. We recommend combining the visit with a stroll through the tuff alleys of the town, to discover how sacred art and popular devotion are still a living part of the community.
