The Bishop's Palace of Sant'Agata de' Goti houses the Alphonsian section of the Diocesan Museum, with the rooms where St Alphonsus lived.
In Piazza Umberto I, next to the town hall, stands the Bishop's Palace of Sant'Agata de' Goti, a 17th-century building altered many times over the years. This is where St Alphonsus Maria de' Liguori lived, bishop of the town from 1762 to 1775, a figure who still deeply marks the identity of the town today.In one wing of the palace is the Alphonsian section of the Diocesan Museum: the route crosses the courtyard with a lapidarium and the rooms where the saint lived, with the simple episcopal chair used for audiences and some of his treatises. We also like the coats of arms of the bishops of the diocese. We recommend combining the visit with the Carmine section.
