A 16th-century church in Paternopoli founded by the Franciscans within the old village walls.

The church of San Francesco was built in the 16th century on the initiative of the Franciscans, within the walls that once enclosed Paternopoli. It is considered a significant example of local religious architecture and testifies to the order's presence in the village in the early modern period. We like to include it in a walking tour of the centre, where several 16th-century sacred buildings are concentrated, such as the small church of San Giuseppe. We suggest then continuing to the sanctuary of Maria Santissima della Consolazione, with its bell tower dominating the village, for a complete picture of Paternopoli's devotion.
