The Villamaina Municipal Museum Collection holds almost a thousand objects spanning the village's history, from prehistory through the Samnite and Roman periods to the modern age. The heart of the collection is a Roman lapidarium with inscriptions that are invaluable for reconstructing local events, including a dedication to the Lares and the Genius.We like the many stamped bricks, probably made in Roman workshops, and an architectural element with a wolf's head, perhaps from a place of worship. Many finds come from the Formulano and Cisterne areas, where farm villas once stood. We suggest pairing the visit with a stop at the nearby San Teodoro spa area.
