The parish church of Sant'Angelo all'Esca dedicated to the Archangel Michael, the saint who gives the small Irpinian village its name.

The church of San Michele Arcangelo is the parish church of Sant'Angelo all'Esca, a small ridge-top municipality in the middle Calore valley, at about 460 metres. Its dedication to the Archangel is linked to the very name of the village, which began in the early Middle Ages as a hamlet and grew up in the shadow of events in Taurasi and Fontanarosa. The cultural heritage catalogue dates the building, the work of Campanian craftsmen, to 1889 and lists it among the notable assets of the historic centre. We suggest visiting it together with the church of the Carmelo and the church of San Rocco, strolling through a village that was largely rebuilt after the 1980 earthquake.
