Ruins of a castle of Lombard origin in the Avella Mountains, with a stretch of wall between two round towers.

On the Litto heights, in the Avella Mountains, the remains of a 7th-century castle of Lombard origin lie hidden in the vegetation. It changed hands many times until the Orsini, who held it until 1428, and was then abandoned when Cardinal Giovanni d'Aragona had a palace better suited as a residence built at the end of the 15th century.Today a stretch of wall running north to south remains, closed by two round towers on two levels, with slightly battered bases and hints of merlons. The fort must have followed the shape of the hill. We are fascinated by its wild appearance: we recommend comfortable shoes and care among the ruins.
