A museum of modern and contemporary art in Avellino, with works by de Chirico, Carrà and Guttuso, a library and an archive of art films.

Opened on 2 January 1995, Avellino's Art Museum is devoted to modern and contemporary art. After closing in 2006 to reorganise its collections, it reopened in 2012 with a new display in three sections. We love the variety of works: sculptures, drawings, pastels, oil paintings and art multiples such as engravings, bronzes, silverwork, lithographs and screen prints.Among the artists represented we point out Giorgio de Chirico, Carlo Carrà and Renato Guttuso. Many works are on loan for at least a year, while others belong to the museum. We also suggest discovering the art history library, centred on the 19th and 20th centuries, and the archive of documentaries on Italian art from the 13th century onwards; the museum also organises exhibitions, conferences and publications.
