At the top of the Cappuccini hill, a sanctuary from 1580 with a precious wooden altarpiece and frescoes.

At the top of Avellino's Cappuccini hill we find the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, which forms a single complex with the convent of the Capuchin friars: both date from 1580. The interior is divided into two naves and holds several frescoes. The piece that strikes us most is the fine wooden altarpiece: the figure of the Virgin at its centre is the model for the statue carried in procession through the city every year. We suggest climbing up here for the peace of the place too, which also keeps a convent library, and for a different view of the Irpinian capital.
