Lauro's castle of medieval origin, destroyed in 1799 and rebuilt in 1872 by the Lancellotti princes in an eclectic style.

Lauro's castle has Lombard-Norman origins and is mentioned in a document as early as 976. In 1799 it was set on fire by French troops, but Prince Filippo Lancellotti had it rebuilt, inaugurating it in 1872. The Lancellotti had acquired the fief of Lauro in 1632 and kept it until the abolition of feudalism. We love its eclectic style, blending Gothic, Renaissance, neoclassical and Baroque elements. We suggest looking for the 19th-century garden with its circular fountain, the Renaissance wooden doorway and the small secret garden. Not to be missed, at the end of August, is the evening event that takes visitors through the rooms telling the castle's story from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.
