Municipal archaeological museum of Atena Lucana, devoted to the ancient history of this Vallo di Diano town, ancient Atina.

In Atena Lucana, one of the oldest villages of the Vallo di Diano, the municipal archaeological museum named after Elena D'Alto tells the area's past. Here stood ancient Atina, a Roman municipium, and the town still preserves traces of its origins, from megalithic walls to the remains of the forum. We like starting our discovery of the village at the museum, then heading out to find the signs of the ancient city on site, such as the walls at Serrone and the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, built over the area of the Roman forum. We suggest checking opening arrangements with the municipality beforehand.
