A small 19th-century single-nave chapel in the old La Torre quarter, with a statue of Saint Vitus on the high altar.

Strolling through the old La Torre quarter in San Pietro al Tanagro, you will come across this small chapel dedicated to Saint Vitus the martyr. It was most likely built around the middle of the 19th century: the date is carved on the portal, although it is hard to read today. It is a simple, intimate building, perfect for a quiet stop among the alleys. The interior has a single nave, with a small side chapel holding a little altar and preserving a stone-slab floor. On the main altar stands the statue of Saint Vitus, the focus of local devotion. We like to think of it as a stop to combine with the other sacred sites scattered around the old quarter.
