Museum created after the 1980 earthquake in the crypt of the Addolorata, with items from the Cathedral Treasury and local parishes.

The Cathedral museum, housed in the crypt of the Addolorata, was created after 1985 in response to the wounds of the 1980 earthquake. The collapse of many churches in Irpinia had left furnishings, fragments and artworks homeless: so it was decided to gather them in one place, to save them and make them known. Here we find pieces from the Cathedral Treasury and from various parishes in the area, witnesses to local devotion and sacred art. We recommend arranging your visit in advance, as the museum opens by request: we like to combine it with a stroll in Piazza Duomo.
