16th-century mother church of Foiano di Val Fortore, in Piazza San Giovanni, with a neoclassical façade and a nave and two aisles.

In the heart of the old village of Foiano di Val Fortore, in Piazza San Giovanni, stands the mother church dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario. Its origins date back to the 16th century and the façade is adorned with neoclassical volutes. We like it as a starting point for exploring the village, which overlooks the valley crossed by the River Fortore. The interior is divided into a nave and two aisles and holds several works of art linked to local devotion. We recommend continuing to the Church of the Madonna della Libera and, in the upper part of the village, the surviving bell tower of San Pietro; a few kilometres away is the Mazzocca chapel, destination of the patronal pilgrimage on 24 June.
