Sanctuary of the patron saint of Montefalcone di Val Fortore, born from a chapel of 1604 and a pilgrimage destination in mid-July.

In Montefalcone di Val Fortore the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Carmine is the heart of local devotion, dedicated to the village's patron saint. It all began in 1604 with a modest chapel built thanks to the offerings of the faithful; after the coronation of the Virgin, promoted in 1903 by Abbot Antonio Altobelli, the chapel took the title of sanctuary.Between 1920 and 1954 Abbot Antonio Petrilli oversaw its enlargement, decoration and approach avenue, and founded the Carmelite sisters who still look after the site, where his remains rest. We recommend coming for the feast, celebrated from 15 to 17 July, which draws many pilgrims.
