The Church of the Santissima Croce is among the oldest places of worship in Fragneto Monforte and is linked to the complex of the Ducal Palace, the old centre of the fief. For centuries it was the village's main church, before this role passed to the Church of Santi Nicola e Rocco.The 1688 earthquake destroyed it and rebuilding began at the end of the 17th century at the behest of Cardinal Orsini, then Archbishop of Benevento. We are pleased that a recent restoration has given it back its dignity. We recommend admiring it during a stroll through the historic heart of the village, next to the bulk of the palace.
