The mother church of Saints Nicholas and Roch in Fragneto Monforte, rebuilt after the 1688 earthquake, holds the relic of St Faustina.
The mother church of Fragneto Monforte is dedicated to Saints Nicholas and Roch. The 1688 earthquake destroyed it and it was rebuilt in the following century, taking over from the older Church of Santa Croce as the village's main place of worship.We like the bell tower, detached from the church and overlooking the main square, built between the 17th and 18th centuries. Inside is a relic of St Faustina, a martyr from the time of Diocletian, very dear to local devotion. We recommend visiting it while strolling through the centre, to soak up the daily life of the village.
