Campolattaro Castle grew up around a Norman tower and became the summer residence of the marquises.

Campolattaro Castle began to take shape in the 13th century around a large Norman tower, and in the Aragonese period it probably gained round towers and crenellated walls. Over time it lost its defensive role and became the summer residence of the lords of the fief: the Di Capua family, marquises from 1589, and then the Blanch family, who bought it in the 17th century. The building has a rectangular plan around a large courtyard, on which the castle proper faces the 16th-century palatine chapel, reconsecrated in 1717 by the future Pope Benedict XIII. We like the old 17th-century olive press with its mangers still visible. The castle is privately owned: we recommend enquiring about visits by appointment.
