Church of San Germano

  • Visit: about 20 min

On Corso Lucilio in Sessa Aurunca, the church and convent of San Germano: 13th-century origins and an 18th-century interior with stucco and marble.

Overlooking Corso Lucilio, the main axis of Sessa Aurunca's historic centre, the Church of San Germano is part of a convent complex of medieval origin. Its story unfolds between the 13th and 18th centuries: a long span of time that has left different traces in the building's architecture.Above all we like the interior, renovated in the 18th century, where the stucco decoration and polychrome marble typical of the taste of the time stand out. We suggest stopping here as you walk along the Corso, perhaps alternating with visits to the other churches lining the street, for a little journey between the Middle Ages and the Baroque.
