All that remains of Pontelatone Castle is the cylindrical Angevin tower of 1321, dominating the village from the north side of the plateau.

Pontelatone Castle stood on the northern side of the plateau on which the village lies, the most exposed side. What survives is the Angevin tower, dated to 1321, when the fief belonged to the Marzano family of Sessa. Very little remains of the rest of the fortification, but the tower is enough to tell of the defensive importance of this small town. The tower is cylindrical, with a battered base, and can be recognised from several points in the surrounding area: it is the most striking feature of the village's skyline. Later, under the Carafa lords, the residence was embellished by Gian Tommaso Carafa and his son Diomede. We suggest stopping at its foot and imagining the fortification it once belonged to.
