The medieval castle of Tufo, built on a volcanic rock from which the territory could be controlled as far as the Sannio.

The village of Tufo grew up around its medieval castle, built on top of a volcanic rock. From that position it commanded a wide territory, from Monte Terminio to the Sannio, and this is precisely what made the village important. After the Norman conquest the area passed to the County of Ariano and the village was fortified.Over the centuries the village came under the jurisdiction of Avellino, then of the Aragonese, and in the 18th century it was sold to the Venetian Count Piatti. The castle is among the village's must-see monuments. We suggest pairing it with a walk through the hills of Greco di Tufo: we love the idea of a journey between history and vineyards.
