Medieval Aqueduct of Salerno
L'acquedotto longobardo con gli archi ogivali, chiamato «ponti del diavolo».
Palace · Salerno (SA)

Elegant small palace in the historic centre, documented since 1578, which housed the city council until the Palazzo di Città was built in 1936.
On the corner of Via dei Canali and the alley of the same name, with its entrance on Largo San Pietro a Corte, stands the Old Town Hall. The first records date back to 1578, when a clock, now gone, was installed on the façade, but the area was already inhabited in Lombard times, when the princes' court stood here. We like to think how much of the city's history has passed through these rooms. The building has a rectangular plan and three levels marked by string courses, with rustication and decorations in classical taste. A flight of steps once led down to the square; it was removed at the end of the 19th century during the restoration that gave the building the look of the noble palaces of 18th-century Naples. We recommend looking at the simple round-arched stone portal.
