Salerno's Duomo dedicated to Saint Matthew, with its four-sided portico and Baroque crypt.

The cathedral was consecrated in 1084 by Pope Gregory VII, who is buried here. You enter through the Lions' Gate into the four-sided portico with its ancient columns, dominated by the Norman bell tower. The crypt, lined with marble and frescoes, holds the relics of Saint Matthew, the city's patron saint. Inside, the pulpits with their medieval mosaics stand out.
