Candida's castle of Lombard origin, recorded as early as 1065 and long linked to the Filangieri family: walls, towers and a courtyard survive.

Candida's castle already existed in 1065, when a document was drawn up within its very walls. Of Lombard origin and altered in the Norman-Swabian period, it controlled movements in the valleys below. From 1234 the fief passed to the Filangieri, who made it a stronghold of their Irpinian possessions; in 1426 a fire, during the siege by Sergianni Caracciolo's troops, also reached the fortress.Today parts of the town walls and buttresses remain. We like to enter from the west side, through a stone gateway raised above the road, and climb the stairs to the inner courtyard. We suggest looking for the round battered tower at the western corner and the square one to the east, from which you reach the castle garden.
