Montefalcione's mother church and sanctuary of Saint Anthony, with a coffered ceiling and a 19th-century organ.

The church of Santa Maria Assunta is Montefalcione's mother church and is also known as the sanctuary of Saint Anthony of Padua. Damaged by the 1980 earthquake, it has been completely restored and today welcomes visitors with a rich, well-kept interior. We like to look up at the richly decorated coffered ceiling. Above the entrance stands the organ built in 1864 by the Jantosca brothers of Candida. We suggest visiting in the last week of August, during the feast of Saint Anthony with its procession and fireworks contest. The statue of Saint Lucy is also kept here.
