A church in San Nicola Baronia rebuilt several times after earthquakes, with an 18th-century altarpiece of the Annunciation.

The history of the church of the Santissima Annunziata in San Nicola Baronia is a succession of building works and rebirths. Begun in 1703 and completed in 1707, its finishing dragged on until 1777 because of a dispute between the duke, the parish priest and the benefactors; it was consecrated in 1783. The original three-nave church, decorated with stucco and paintings, was destroyed by the 1930 earthquake.Rebuilt with the help of Pope Pius XI and reconsecrated in 1933, it was almost remade again after the 1962 earthquake and reopened in 1977. The marble façade has a three-arched portico and a stained-glass window of Pentecost. We suggest making your way to the high altar, where the 18th-century altarpiece of the Annunciation stands out; the bell tower has Gothic-style windows and a clock.
