Little-known Baroque gem with a barrel-vaulted nave, stucco work, a high altar and gilded wooden reliquary cabinets.

Closed to worship for more than half a century, the church of Santo Spirito is a Baroque gem that few people know. It already existed in 1623, when work began next door on the Franciscan convent commissioned by the De Ponte, the local feudal lords. The layout is still the original one: a single soaring nave, barrel-vaulted and decorated with stucco and cornices.In the 17th century the church was enriched with precious works, such as the high altar and the reliquary cabinets in carved, painted and gilded wood, with a rich series of reliquaries of various shapes, perhaps from a workshop within the Franciscan order. We recommend giving it a careful visit: it surprises us every time.
