Church of the Incoronata in Vallata

  • Visit: about 20 min
  • 848 m

An 18th-century church in Vallata dedicated to the Madonna dell'Incoronata, built in 1726 and enlarged in 1928.

Among the places of worship of Vallata, a hilltop village in the Ufita valley built on a crag with the remains of a medieval castle, is the church of the Madonna dell'Incoronata. It was built in 1726 by Campanian craftsmen and later enlarged in 1928, in a village repeatedly marked by earthquakes that have reshaped its churches and bell towers. We like to include it in an itinerary among the village's churches, from the mother church of San Bartolomeo with its Romanesque bell tower to the church of San Vito, at the entrance to the village. We suggest ending the walk at the San Rocco viewpoint, from which the view sweeps over Monte Santo Stefano and the valley.
