A church on the central square of Vallesaccarda, of ancient origin and rebuilt several times after the earthquakes that struck the village.

On Vallesaccarda's main square, Piazza Michele Adessa, stands the church of the Immacolata. Its origins are uncertain, but as early as the 18th century a small church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception was the village's landmark: its bell tower could be seen from the old road between Trevico and Anzano and was a stopping place for travellers. The building's history is tied to the area's seismic history: in the 1930 earthquake the village lost its old church, later rebuilt several times after subsequent earthquakes. We like visiting it as a symbol of the tenacity of this mountain community of the Ufita, at 650 metres, which became an independent municipality only in 1958.
