In the upper part of Caiazzo, next to the Church of the Annunziata, stands the Church of the Immacolata Concezione, attached to the monastery of the Santissima Concezione. Its history begins in 1615, when Canon Giulio d'Ettorre founded a women's conservatory under the protection of the Immaculate Conception.In 1618 the church, until then the parish of San Nicola de Figulis, was donated to the conservatory and dedicated to the Conception; in 1647 a papal bull turned the community into an enclosed monastery. We like discovering these layers while strolling through the old town, and we recommend including it in a tour of the town's churches.
