Castel di Serra

The hamlet of Serra is the oldest part of the municipality of Pratola Serra: its village grew on a hill around a medieval castle. The fief passed through several families and at the end of the 16th century was bought by the Tocco of Montemiletto, who held it until 1806. In 1812 the union of Pratola and the castle of Serra created today's municipality.No free-standing castle building remains: some stretches of its structures have been incorporated into later buildings. We suggest going up to Serra and strolling slowly among the houses, looking for older walls and stones. We love this kind of discovery, discreet and best made with a watchful eye.
