Church of Sant'Antonio in Caggiano
- Visit: about 20 min
- 815 m

17th-century church and convent on a height outside the centre of Caggiano, dedicated to the patron St Anthony of Padua.
On a height just outside Caggiano's historic centre stands the complex of Sant'Antonio, dedicated to the saint of Padua, the town's patron. The Friars Minor convent was founded in 1634, while the church was completed in 1717 thanks to contributions from the townspeople and then rebuilt in 1749. The convent was suppressed in 1866.We like discovering the paintings by Nicola Peccheneda inside the church and strolling in the two-storey cloister around which the convent is built. Today its rooms also house the municipal library and an antiquarium with archaeological finds: we suggest making a full visit.
