The largest caves in Campania, in the Alburni Mountains, with a stretch to be explored by boat on the Negro river.

The Grotte dell'Angelo of Pertosa are a karst complex that opens in Pertosa and extends beneath Auletta and Polla, on the left bank of the Tanagro, at the foot of the Alburni. They wind for about three kilometres and are the most extensive in Campania; scholars date their origin to about 35 million years ago.We are enchanted by the stalactites and stalagmites, which form fantastic shapes. The most thrilling feature is the entrance: you cross by boat a small lake formed by the Negro river, a unique case in Italy. For those seeking adventure there is also speleorafting, with a first stretch by dinghy and then on foot. We recommend not missing them.
