Chapel of San Sebastiano in Salvitelle, built in 1557–1558: the oldest religious building in the small village.

Salvitelle is a small village nestled on the southern slopes of the Eremita-Marzano group, overlooking the Vallo di Diano. The oldest of its sacred buildings is dedicated to St Sebastian: the chapel dates from 1557–1558 and predates the village's other churches by almost two centuries. We like visiting it together with a stroll among the historic palaces of the centre, such as Palazzo Baronale and Palazzo Grassibelli, remembering that the village was badly hit by the 1980 earthquake and stood out for its reconstruction. We suggest looking for the viewpoints from which the gaze sweeps over the valley below.
