16th-century parish church of Gricignano di Aversa, dedicated to patron St Andrew, on a Latin-cross plan with a barrel vault.
Along Corso Umberto, in Gricignano di Aversa, stands the parish Church of Sant'Andrea Apostolo, dedicated to the town's patron saint, celebrated on 30 November. The dedication is old: a chaplaincy of Sant'Andrea in Gricignano already appears in the tithe registers of the early 14th century. The present building, however, dates from the 16th century and is the work of local craftsmen.The church has a Latin-cross plan, with tuff walls, a barrel vault and a pitched roof covered in clay tiles. We like its role as the heart of the community, in a part of the Aversa countryside rich in history. We recommend visiting it perhaps during the patronal feast, when the town gathers around its saint.
