Church built beside an Augustinian convent, on the site of an ancient pagan temple, reopened in 2010 after restoration.

This church already existed before 1779 and was originally dedicated to St Monica. It stood next to the convent of the Augustinian Fathers, dedicated to St Nicholas of Tolentino, of which sadly nothing remains today. According to tradition the building was rebuilt on top of an ancient pagan temple. The 1980 earthquake damaged it badly and it remained closed for a long time: only in May 2010, after a lengthy restoration, did its doors reopen to worshippers and visitors. We recommend stopping by along Via Roma to discover a piece of Atripalda's religious history.
