In Macerata Campania we take you to the abbey Church of San Martino Vescovo, dedicated to the saint of Tours, the town's patron, and run by abbot-parish priests. Its origins are very ancient and not documented with certainty: according to the historian Gabriele Jannelli it already existed before the 10th century. In 1608 the parish priest Francesco d'Isa had it rebuilt from its foundations, while between 1921 and 1936 it was enlarged to double its length.Music lovers will appreciate the pipe organ on the inner façade, built in 1941 reusing the case of an earlier instrument. Above all we like experiencing the church during festivals: in early July Santo Stefano Minicillo is celebrated, with the statue carried in procession through the streets, and in January the church is the backdrop to the feast of Sant'Antuono.
