Church · Caserta (CE)

Small 17th-century Capuchin church in the hamlet of Puccianiello, with the old convent, library and kitchen garden.
In the Caserta hamlet of Puccianiello stands this small church dedicated to St Francis of Assisi, built in the 17th century together with the convent of the Capuchin Friars thanks to a donation by Prince Acquaviva. We like its simplicity, in keeping with the Franciscan spirit of the friars who wanted it.The convent complex also included a fine library and a kitchen garden, both of which have survived in good condition. The rooms are set to become a cultural centre. We recommend a stop if you are visiting Caserta's hillside districts, to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere away from the traffic.
