18th-century family chapel of the Della Ratta, with a stucco vault on a blue ground and a carved piperno portal.

In the 18th century this family chapel belonged to the Della Ratta, Counts of Caserta. Inside, still in fair condition, the vault preserves elegant stucco work standing out against a blue ground, and the altar has survived intact. We like this little treasure chest hidden in a side street of the centre.Even those who look at it from the lane have plenty to admire: the entrance is framed by piperno pilasters with capitals, and on the architrave appears the face of a winged cherub between two flowers. In the broken pediment we recommend noticing the radiant cross supported by a skull, flanked by two angels carved in stone.
