The season at Caserta's Teatro Comunale Costantino Parravano, put together by the city council with Teatro Pubblico Campano, gets into full swing from 16 to 18 October with Ruoli secondari (Supporting Roles), a show written and directed by Ferzan Ozpetek.
The director of His Secret Life, Loose Cannons and Naples in Veils, who has devoted much-loved films to Naples and Campania, brings to the stage the themes running through all his work: identity, family, the bonds between people and those seemingly marginal characters who end up saying more than the leads. For Caserta audiences it is a chance to see his gaze up close, translated into the language of theatre.
Our tip: combine the evening with a stroll along Via Mazzini and through central Caserta, a few steps from the Royal Palace, and check performance times before you set off.
